We unfortunately said goodbye to our super sixth class of 2023. One of our smallest classes of recent times but they had a huge influence in setting standards for all in behaviour, academics and sporting achievements. We had a lovely assembly to say our goodbyes.
School sports day mid June once again proved a big hit with all the pupils. Under the searing heat and on our sun weathered field everyone took part in some serious – at not so serious events!
June 9th was a special day for all the pupils in Glenmore N.S. All classes headed to SETU Carlow for a fun filled school tour. There was super indoor and outdoor activities for all all ages, enjoyed by all. Everyone went home exhausted, including the teachers! Each child made a contribution to the Children’s Hospital Crumlin in their admission fee – Maith sibh go léir!
Well done to the Glenmore/Ballyfacey school camogie team who reached the U13 Shield Final. The girls came up against a strong Urlingford side and were defeated by 2-10 to 2-2. They fought gallantly at a sun soaked Páirc na Ratha. Thanks to the parents involved in the team affairs Richie Mullally, Pam Doyle and Deirdre Kinsella.
At the time of writing the boys U13 hurling team are in the Shield Semi Final awaiting the winners of Ballyragget and Kilmanagh.
Exciting times ahead!
Thanks to Jean Brennan, Membership Promotion Officer from New Ross Credit Union for her recent visit to our 6th Class. Jean gave a great talk to the children on the importance of saving and money management.
The school would like to welcome back Denis and Olivia and the Funky Kids Programme. Over 10 weeks all children will participate in music, art, drama and games. At the end of the programme the children will deliver a super show for all to attend. Costumes and sets will also be put together by the children. ‘Bring it ON!’
Thank you kindly to Leo and Chris of the Graignamanagh Fire Service for their visit to 3rd and 4th class. The officers gave a great lesson to all on fire safety awareness and all present learned many tips to keep ourselves safe in the future. All the children took on the challenge of learning their Eircodes after the talk.
On March 21st the school got into the spirit to celebrate World Book Day. The students made a great effort to mark ‘Odd Sock Day’. Some of the combinations were very interesting!
Bhí lá iontach againn ar Lá ‘le Pádraig. Bhí gach duine sa scoil gléasta suas agus bhí lá glas againn. Bhí an-spraoi againn le céilí mór sa halla. Bhí crinniú againn agus rinne gach rang dán nó amhrán i nGaeilge. Sheinn rang a cúig agus a sé an feadóg stáin.
