Easter Assembly

We rounded off the Easter term with our half day activities to get the holidays going! Firstly we enjoyed our annual Easter Egg Hunt around the school. Well done to the Students Council for their help here always challenging the pupils with their hiding skills! Then we had our Student of the Month awards before rounding things off with our postponed Lá Glas performances. The whole school finished off with a version of ‘An Dreolín’ dance – we done to Miss Keane for preparing the children here.

Grandparents/Special Persons Day

On March 26th we had our very first Grandparents/Special Persons Day. We opened our doors to the many special people in our pupils lives to come in and see the work we do each day. We had a fantastic turn out of parents, grandparents and special persons. There was great fun as our visitors tried their hand at the activities going on such as bingo, art, painting and music. Everyone had a nice cupán tae to round off the day also. Well done to our visitors and staff for making it such an enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to Fresh Today our hot lunch providers for the sandwiches and confectionery. See pictures of the event below.

Rugby Star Visits Glenmore N.S!

Today was an incredible day for the staff and pupils of Glenmore N.S. As part of the ‘Dare to Believe’ program we were paid a visit by Ireland women’s rugby star Stacey Flood. Stacey spoke to the children about how she became a professional rugby player and the challenges she faced. She spoke about hard work, perseverance and the setbacks she faced on her journey to becoming an Olympian and Ireland international rugby player. She gave the children a quiz and then spent quite some time answering questions and signing autographs.

We would like to thank Stacey for coming and giving time out of her busy schedule. We are very grateful to her and wish her the best in the upcoming  Women’s 6 Nations. A big well done to all the staff and children for the fantastic artwork displayed around the school. A special mention to Mr. Murphy for co-coordinating the event and for the fantastic large murals he created with the help of the students. Maith thú!

FAI Primary 5’s Competetion

Glenmore N.S competed for the first time in the FAI Primary 5’s Football Competition. The competition took place in Thomastown United’s outstanding facilities and we entered boys and girls teams from 4th – 6th classes. We played against schools of similar size and population from the South Kilkenny area. All teams competed really well and really enjoyed the day. One of our boys teams won all their matches and have progressed to the next round.

A big thank you to Mr. Walsh and Miss Cody for looking after the teams on the day and to Mr. Murphy for looking after the admin.

Grandparents/Special Persons Day 26th of March

On the 26th of March we are inviting our student’s Grandparents/Special Persons to come in to school and visit our classes. We would love to hear some stories about school long ago from willing participants! The school will be open to visitors from 1pm – 2.30pm on the day. Parents of current and incoming students are more than welcome also and refreshments will be served on the day.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thank you Yvonne!

The staff and pupils of Glenmore National School would like to say a big ‘Go raibh maith agat’ to Yvonne Knight, Mullinavat. Yvonne recently donated a beautiful collection of knitted dolls and characters to the school.

Red Kettle Theatre Company Show 2026

Our friends in the Red Kettle Theatre Company brightened up a dreary wet Friday today. Old friends of the school, they came to visit again today to put on their performance ‘A Tremendous Terrible Tantrum’. The pupils really enjoyed it as always and were part of the dialogue and character dress up. See the slide show below for some fun photos. Looking forward to next year already!

Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh Go Léir!

The principal and staff of SN Shéamuis Naofa would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.

Today the children had their Christmas performance in the Parish Hall. Juniors – 2nd classes performed their Nativity play  ‘A Sleepy Shepherd’. There was fantastic display of singing, dancing and acting from all the boys and girls from junior end of the school.

The senior end of the school gave a wonderful melody of popular Christmas tunes as well as some traditional favourite songs, such a ‘The Rattlin’ Bog’ . The audience really played their part and got involved with their cheerful clapping. Well done to all the pupils and their teachers for all the preparation work.

A big thank you to The Parents Association who organised the raffle and distributed the prizes. The raffle was a huge success and thanks to all who supported.
