Parents Association Clothes Collection

A big thank you to our Parents Association for organising the recent Clothes Collection. We got a fantastic response collecting close to 100 bags of second hand clothes. Thanks to all parents and parishioners who generously donated.  Some of the proceeds were also given to the Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice, a very deserving charity.

Christmas Cheer in Glenmore N.S.

We all have had a wonderful build up to Christmas 2025. On Wednesday last the  really children from Juniors – 2nd class performed their Nativity Play and 4th – 6th performed their Christmas show – ‘The Star Attraction’. Everybody was really impressed by the wonderful singing and acting. The show was followed by the Annual Parents Association Raffle. Huge credit must go the Parents Association and parents for the wonderful prizes including home made hampers, vouchers and Christmas cakes etc. The raffle was an outstanding success.

On Friday we had a special visitor from Lapland who told us all to be good. He promised to make sure he would keep an eye on his big list for the children of Glenmore N.S.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2024

Well done to all parents and children who kindly put together their Christmas boxes for the annual shoe box appeal. It is a fantastic initiative that encourages the children not to forget others less well off in other countries at Christmas time. There was a super response from the parents and there was great excitement when the army officers came to collect. Well done to all involved.

Geansaithe Nua!

A big thank you to Cumann na mBunscoil Cill Chainnaigh and Tesco Ireland for their recent sponsorship of a new set of GAA Jerseys for the Glenmore/Ballyfacey School Teams. We were delighted with them in our traditional green and gold. Our Student Council members did a fine job of modelling them!

3/4th Mixed Football Blitz

Today, 3rd and 4th class had a great day in Mullinavat GAA Club at the mixed football blitz. The blitz was organised by Kilkenny GAA and carried out by their coaches. Girls and boys from Glenmore, Carraigeen and Dunnamaggin schools took part on a very nice Autumn day. Best of Luck Mia!

On the eve of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, we would like to wish the best of luck our former pupil Mia Griffin who take part in the Team Pursuit Track Cycling event. Mia was a distinguished student and athlete during her time in Glenmore N.S. excelling in athletics and Camogie before turning her attention to professional cycling and Olympic Track Cycling. We wish her and her team all the best and would love to see her return to Glenmore with medal.

Goodbye to 6th Class!

Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions in Glenmore N.S. as we said our goodbyes to the 6th class of 2024. We had our final assembly where the 6th class gave a short speech each about their memories and times in the school. Some wrote poems and some just spoke from the heart. Miss Kelly then gave the children their presents with some kind words for each student. The pupils were then treated to a nice ice cream as they enjoyed their final day sharing memories with one another.

School League Showdown!

In the final week of school the much anticipated ‘Mini League Hurling’ Final was one of the highlights. 31 boys and girls took part with 6 teams playing 8 matches each over the April – June period. Following the league stages the two teams left standing were JJ’s Team and Callums Team. The final was an exciting match with Callum building up and early lead, only to be reeled in in the second half by JJ. In an exciting finish Callums team won by 4-7 to 4-3.

Mr. Grant presented the teams in the final with their medals and highlighted the efforts of all children. Looking forward to next year.

Senior School Tour 2024

The Senior School Tour took place on Monday the 17th of June. The children in 5th and 6th had an action packed day. They first visited Spike Island in Cork with a nice boat ride to it. Later in the day they returned to Fota Wildlife Park where they explored and saw a huge variety of wildlife. Everyone was exhausted after the long day but they really enjoyed it. Thainks to Miss Kelly, Miss Keane, Miss Ryan and Geraldine for looking after everyone on the day.
