Sing Out Loud

On Sunday 16th of November our 3rd – 6th classes made the trip to Wexford to perform in the ‘Sing Out Loud’ concert experience. Our school was one of many schools there on the day, where each school sang together with spectacular effect. The journey to the Sing Out Loud stage begins in the classroom with the children’s teachers, assisted by the rehearsal material provided for both teachers and children culminating in an evening of music, performance and fun for the pupils, teachers and the audience alike.

A big thank you to Miss Phelan and Mr. Walsh for preparing the children so well and also to Miss Ryan and Miss Kelly for helping out on the day. Maith sibh go léir!

Shoe Box Appeal 2025

The students of Glenmore N.S. have been busy lately getting their ‘Christmas Shoeboxes’ ready for those less fortunate at Christmas time. As always there was a fantastic response from parents and students alike to the appeal. An impressive number of boxes were collected by this year and were picked up by the Army cadets today. Thanks to the Student Council for their help in loading up everything. Great work by all and thanks to everyone for the contribution.

Oíche Shamhna

The staff and pupils really got in to the Halloween spirit today. All kinds of ghosts, ghouls, monsters and creatures roamed the playground. Thanks kindly to the Student Council for organising the music and setting the scene for the Halloween Disco. From Juniors – 6th everyone enjoyed it. Here are some pictures from a fantastic day.

3rd/4th Football Blitz

Our 3rd and 4th classes enjoyed the sunshine today as they took part a mixed Gaelic Football blitz in Mullinavat, run by Kilkenny G.A.A.  Many schools took part. Children from all different schools played together on mixed teams. Thanks to Miss Phelan for looking after everyone on the day and to Ruairí and Stephen, our 6th class referees. Maith sibh!

Football Kickoff!

The boys football team had their first game in the Cumann na mBunscoil Roinn D league. Away to Carrickshock Schools the lads dug out a great victory 4-7 to 3-3. Thank you to all the parents for providing transport and a special mention to Mr. Murphy for helping out the team. The boys will play Windgap and Kilkenny School Project over the coming weeks.

School Graduation 2025

On Thursday 19th June 2025 we said goodbye to our sixth class of 2025, in great style.  The whole day was a happy celebration of their eight years at Glenmore N.S.  The day began with a school mass in Glenmore church with some of the class reading the prayers of the faithful.  After lunch we had our school assembly, attended by the families of the sixth class pupils.  The fifth and sixth class sang Viva la Vida, accompanied by guitar.  Then introduced by Ms. Kelly, the sixth class treated us to their memories of Glenmore N.S. and hopes for the future.  Each and every one of them did a fantastic job.  After the presentation of year books and goodies by Ms. Kelly, next it was time for a well earned Mister Softee ice-cream in the sun!

We wish Katie, Amy, Freya, Annaleigh, Amelia, Amy, Aoibheann, Eimear, Jack, Richie, Diarmuid, Marcus and Casey all the very best in your new schools and have a wonderful Summer.  You have been fantastic always!

School Mini League 2025

Over the past 5 weeks, 30 of our pupils from Glenmore N.S. took part in Mr. Grant’s mini league at break time.  The teams were captained by Eimear, Annaleigh, Amelia, Jack and Richie.  It created great excitement and fantastic displays of hurling in every match.  On Thursday 19th June, the whole school came out to support Amelia and Richie’s team in the final.  Both teams looked the part wearing the Glenmore and Kilkenny colours.  Each player gave it their all, in a very sporting match, with Richie’s team coming out on top in the end.  Both teams were presented with their medals by Mr. Grant during our school graduation in the afternoon.  Well done to all our participants and to Mr. Grant for making it a very enjoyable and successful league!

School Walk 2025

On Wednesday 18th June, we had a fantastic sunny day for our school walk around Glenmore.  On our walk up to the cross and back,  the juniors and senior infants stopped to pick wild strawberries and ate them too! We checked if we liked butter, with the buttercup test.  We brought some dock leaves with us too, just in case of a nettle sting!  We saw beautiful white butterflies also.  We waved at any of the mams, dads and neighbours who passed us along the route!

Well done to all the other classes who took the 5km route around Mullinahone lane!
