Remote Teaching and Learning

Dear Parents,

From Monday January 11th 2021, following Department of Education and NPHET advice all schools will remain closed and remote learning will take place using the Seesaw platform.

Further information in relation to reopening of schools will be communicated to you as soon as it becomes available.

Through Seesaw, your child’s learning will progress. Therefore, I urge you to develop a daily routine for your child to engage fully with Seesaw.

Please note that your child’s teacher is available dring school hours to help in any way that they can to help promote your child’s learning.

Trick or Treat for Temple Street

Glenmore National School will run ‘Trick or Treat for Temple Street’ this year.

We are asking all children to come to school in their Halloween costumes on Friday October 23rd. A notation of €2 per child or €5 per family is requested. All donations will be sent to Temple Street Children’s Hospital, a very worthy cause.

Glenmore NS parents’ council have kindly donated a prize for the best costume in each class.

We look forward to a spooky end to the first half term of the year!

Return to school

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your families are all well and the children are enjoying their summer. As you will be aware from the media, long-awaited guidance has been issued to schools regarding the safe reopening of schools in late August/September. There will be changes ahead, but the teachers and staff will work to have school life as normal as we can for the children, while doing everything we can to ensure everyone is as safe as possible.

Every school context is different, and so each school will need to work with this guidance according to their school profile. The school management and staff will be working on a plan over the coming weeks regarding the reopening of our school and I will share this with you when we have more information. There are still unanswered questions and the Department will be liaising further with schools over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please reassure your children that going back to school (or starting school for the first time!) is a really positive thing. There will be a period of readjustment after such a lengthy time out of school life, and we will support children through this transition back to school.

Yours sincerely,

Laura Kelly

Work From Home

Dear Parents,

Term 3 begins after the Easter break, Monday 20th April. Unfortunately, due to restrictions, schools remain closed. The teachers and staff of Glenmore NS are working hard to prepare work for your children to do at home. We understand that these are difficult times and that each and every household has different priorities at this time. However we strongly advise parents to encourage children to engage with the work sent home. A good routine will help your child. A little school work and lots of fresh air and exercise during the day will help keep your child motivated to learn. Please know that the teachers and staff are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have in relation to the school work assigned. They can be contacted by emailing them directly, or emailing the school at glenmorens@gmail.com, where your message will be passed on without delay.

The most important thing at this time is our health and well-being.

Keep safe.

Thanks
